Alexandru Mateiu (born December 10, 1989 in Brașov ) is a Romanian football player . He has been under contract with CS Universitatea Craiova since summer 2014 .

Career

Mateiu's career began in 2007 when he joined the first team at FC Brașov , which was playing in Liga II at the time . In the first few seasons he only rarely got a chance and thus had a small share in the promotion to League 1 . Beginning with the second half of the 2011/12 season , stakes increased and he was able to establish himself as a regular in the central midfield. After he and his team had initially mostly placed in the midfield of the league, the team was in danger of relegation in the 2013/14 season and only held the class through the withdrawal of FC Vaslui's license . Mateiu left his hometown to join CS Universitatea Craiova .

National team

In May 2014 national coach Victor Pițurcă Mateiu appointed for the first time in the circle of the Romanian national team . In the friendly against Albania he played his first international match when he came on for Doru Pintilii in the 89th minute .
