Alexei Pavlovich Tschapygin ( Russian Алексей Павлович Чапыгин , scientific. Transliteration Aleksej Pavlovič Čapygin ; Oct. 5 * . Jul / 17th October  1870 greg. In the village of Bolshoi Ugol in government Olonez (now Sakumichinskaja in the area Plesetsk ), † 21 October 1937 in Leningrad ) was a Russian - Soviet writer, dramaturge and scenarioist.

Live and act

Alexei grew up in poor rural conditions. He attended school in the neighboring village of Fedowo for only two years. From 1883 he worked as a painter in Saint Petersburg . The master tore up the books of his apprentice Alexei with a curse. The curses would have aroused the young lad's pride. He wanted to be better and got better over time. In literary terms, Alexei Chapygin turned to the symbolists in the Neva metropolis . After the revolution he joined the proletarian cult of Anatoly Lunacharsky and followed Maxim Gorki's trail.

In addition to the prose works listed below, he has written for theater and film. Chapygin became popular in his northern Russian homeland on the coast of the White Sea through stories in the Pomorian dialect.

In 1934 he joined the Union of Writers of the USSR .

Alexei Tschapygin found his final resting place on the Literatorskije mostki ("Literatenbrücken", Литераторские мостки), an honorary department of the Petersburg Volkovo Cemetery .

Sergei Esenin mentioned Chapygin in a poem in 1917. Nikolai Tikhonov praised the poetic prose of the farmer's child Chapygin, who came from the northern, dark forests. He sang truths about the common Russian people and their belief in these truths. In 1935 Gorky saw an author with a northern radiance behind Chapygin's work.

Honors

  • There is a Chapygin Street in Saint Petersburg. Two streets in the author’s closer homeland - Fedowo and Plesezk - are each named after him.
