Alexei Nikolajewitsch Pleschcheev
Aleksey Pleshcheyev ( Russian Алексей Николаевич Плещеев ; born November 22 . Jul / 4. December 1825 greg. In Kostroma , † September 26 jul. / 8. October 1893 greg. In Paris ) was a Russian poet. As a member of the Petraschewski district he was sentenced to death, pardoned by the tsar after a mock execution, exiled to Orenburg , where he was called up for military service. After ten years he was released and lived in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. He later inherited a fortune, came to France and lived in Paris until his death. He translated works by Heinrich Heine into Russian. In addition, he mainly wrote poems and children's songs. After his death he was transferred to Russia and buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow .
