Career
Alexei Zwetkow began his career as a hockey player in the junior division of Severstal Tscherepowez , for whose second team he was active from 1998 to 2000 in the third-rate Pervaya League . At the same time, he made his debut in the Super League for Severstal's professional team in the 1999/2000 season . In his rookie year he remained pointless in a total of eleven games and received eight penalty minutes. In the following four years the center stood for Severstal league rivals SKA Saint Petersburg on the ice, where he ended the 2003/04 season at Salawat Yulayev Ufa , for which he played two more games in the Super League by the end of the season.
For the 2004/05 season Zwetkow moved to HK MWD Tver from the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division. As a second division champion, he rose with his team straight away in the super league. Even after the team moved to Balaschikha following the 2006/07 season , the Russian stayed with the team. With the HK MWD, which took part in the newly founded Continental Hockey League since the 2008/09 season , he reached the final of the Gagarin Cup in the 2009/10 season , in which he and his team were defeated by last year's champion Ak Bars Kazan . Zwetkow himself had a large share in the finals with five goals and eleven assists in 22 playoffs.
For the 2010/11 season Zwetkow signed a contract with his ex-club Severstal Tscherepowez, for which he completed over 110 KHL games in the following two game years. In May 2012 Zwetkow received a two-year contract with HK Dynamo Moscow and was one of the top performers in the following years. In the 2015/16 season he was even the top scorer within the team with 39 points.
In the summer of 2017, his current contract with Dynamo was canceled by the KHL and Zwetkow moved to HK Sotschi . Zwetkow has not actively played ice hockey since 2018.
