The 1999/2000 season was the fourth season of the Superliga . The championship title was secured for the first time by HK Dynamo Moscow , while three teams were relegated to the Wysschaya League for the following year as part of a league reduction from 20 to 18 teams: ZSK WWS Samara , Kristall Elektrostal and HK Lipetsk.

Main round

mode

The 20 teams of the Superliga played against each other in a common main round, each team playing 38 season games. The 16 best-placed teams eventually qualified for the play-offs in which the champions were played. The four last placed teams in the main round had to play against the four best second division teams in a round trip to stay up in the league, with the four best placed teams in the relegation being allowed to take part in the Superliga game in the following year. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win in overtime, and one point for a draw after overtime as well as a loss after overtime. No points were awarded for a defeat after normal time.
