Alexander Jurjewitsch Prokopjew ( Russian Александр Юрьевич Прокопьев ; born June 10, 1971 in Moscow , Russian SFSR , USSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and current coach. From 1987 to 2006 he played in the Russian Super League and the Czech Extra League .

Career

Alexander Prokopjew began his career as an ice hockey player at Kristall Elektrostal , for which he was active from 1987 to 1989. He then received a contract with HK CSKA Moscow , for which he made his debut in the Russian Super League in the 1990/91 season , and with which he also won the European Cup. After a two-year break, the attacker received a contract with HK Dynamo Moscow before the 1993/94 season , with whom he became CIS champions in 1995 and for which he played for a total of three years. From 1996 to 1998 the right-handed shooter was under contract in the Czech Extraliga with HC Vítkovice Steel , with whom he was runner-up in 1997.

Thereupon Prokopyev returned to his Russian homeland, where he again ran from 1998 to 2000 for his ex-club HK Dynamo Moscow, with which he was Russian champion in 2000 . After this success he moved to their league rivals HK Awangard Omsk , with whom he also won the championship in 2004. At the championships in 2000 and 2004 Prokopjew had a large share as top scorer of the playoffs. After the attacker won the IIHF European Champions Cup with Omsk in 2005 , he moved to Chimik Moskovskaya Oblast , where he ended his career in 2006.

International

For Russia , Prokopyev took part in the 1995 , 1996 , 1997 , 1999 , 2000 , 2001 , 2002 and 2004 world championships. He won the silver medal in 2002.

Alexander Prokopjew began his coaching career at Chimik / Atlant Mytishchi. Later he was a member of the coaching staff of Serebrjanje Lwy , the junior team of SKA Saint Petersburg , between 2011 and 2013 .

In the 2018/19 season he was assistant coach at Vitjas Podolsk , and since 2019 he has been coach at HK Tambov .
