Vadim Gennadjewitsch Tarasow ( Russian Вадим Геннадьевич Тарасов ; born December 31, 1976 in Ust-Kamenogorsk , Kazakh SSR ) is a former Kazakh - Russian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been with Salavat Yulayev Ufa - coach in the continental hockey league since April 2013 .
Career

Vadim Tarasov began his career as a hockey player at Metallurg Novokuznetsk , for whose professional team he was active in the Russian Super League from 1997 to 2001 . From 1999 to 2001 he was named the best goalkeeper in the league three times in a row. After the 1999 NHL Entry Draft in the seventh round as the 196th player was selected by the Montreal Canadiens , he spent the 2001/02 season with their farm team Québec Citadelles . In these, however, the Kazakh could not prevail and played only 14 games in the American Hockey League . Therefore, after only a year, he returned to Novokuznetsk, for which he played until 2006.
For the 2006/07 season Tarasov signed with Salawat Julajew Ufa , with whom he was the first Russian champion in 2008 . After three seasons in Ufa, he signed a contract with Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk from the Continental Hockey League in the summer of 2009 . In 2010 he returned to Novokuznetsk and completed 28 assignments for Metallurg in the KHL before he was signed by Severstal Tscherepowez in July 2011 . For Severstal he completed 24 missions in the KHL in the following season.
From May 2012 Tarasov was back under contract with Salawat Yulayev Ufa and subsequently completed 10 KHL games for the club as the second goalkeeper behind Iiro Tarkki before ending his career at the end of the season and becoming the club's goalkeeper coach.
