Aljaksej Mikalayevich Kaljuschny ( Belarusian Аляксей Мікалаевіч Калюжны , Russian Алексей Николаевич Калюжный / Alexei Nikolayevich Kaljuschny * 13. June 1977 in Minsk , Byelorussian SSR ) is a Belarusian ice hockey player who last until 2016 for HC Dinamo Minsk in the Kontinental Hockey League played .

Career

Aljaksej Kaljuschny began his career as a hockey player with HK Dynamo Moscow , for which he made his debut in the Russian Super League in the 1994/95 season . After a year with their league rivals Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk , he returned to Dynamo Moscow in 1996, with whom he became Russian champions for the first time in the 1999/2000 season . He then signed a contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , with which he immediately won the IIHF Super Cup at the beginning of the season and the championship again at the end of the 2000/01 season. After two years, the attacker left Metallurg and also moved to Severstal Tscherepowez for two years , with whom he was runner-up in 2003. After the main round in 2003/04, HK Junost Minsk signed him for the Belarusian playoffs, in which he was able to win the Belarusian championship with the capital club .

In the summer of 2004, Kaljuschny was signed by HK Avangard Omsk , with whom he won the IIHF European Champions Cup in 2005. In the final, the Belarusian and his team prevailed 2-1 after extra time against the Finnish champions Kärpät Oulu , with the 1-1 equalizer nine minutes before the end of regular time. After four years in Omsk, Kaljuschny returned to HK Dynamo Moscow in 2008, with which he then won the Spengler Cup . In 2010 he was voted Belarusian ice hockey player of the year .

In 2010 Dynamo Moscow merged with HK MWD Balaschicha and Kaljuschny switched again to HK Awangard Omsk. With Omsk he reached the play-off final in the 2011/12 season, in which his team was defeated by the OHK Dynamo . He also took part in the KHL All-Star Game 2012 . In May 2012 Kaljuschny received a two-year contract with Lokomotive Yaroslavl , which was terminated in June 2013. He was then without a club, before he was signed by HK Dinamo Minsk in September of the same year , whose team captain he was until 2016.

International

For Belarus, Kaljuschny took part in the junior C-World Championships in 1996 and 1997 , when he, as the top scorer and the best assists of the tournament, made a significant contribution to the Belarusians' promotion to the B group.

In the adult field, he played with the Belarusian selection at the B-World Cup in 1997 and the A-World Cup in 1998 , 1999 and 2000 . After switching to the current division system, he was part of the Belarusian squad at the World Championships in the top division in 2001 , 2003 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2012 , 2014 , 2015 and 2016 as well as at the Division I tournaments in 2002 and 2004 . He also represented his colors at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , 2002 in Salt Lake City and 2010 in Vancouver, as well as in the qualifying tournaments for the 2002 Winter Games, 2006 in Turin and 2014 in Sochi .
