Alexis Troy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alexis Troy , bourgeois Alexis Papadimitriou ( Greek : Αλέξης Παπαδημητρίου, born October 1, 1982 in Frankfurt am Main ), is a German music producer and composer who was part of the former producer team United Hustlers, which was closely related to Selfmade Records . In 2016 Selfmade Records founded a production unit consisting of Bazzazian , Alexis Troy and Yunus "Kingsize" Cimen.

history

After Troy moved at the age of two years with his family to Greece, he came up with four years through the album Face Value of Phil Collins , his mother gave him on cassette tape, for the first time in contact with music. The song In the Air Tonight particularly impressed him with its eye-catching, drum-heavy sound. At the age of seven he combined the basic rhythm of the piece with an improvised piano and recorded it with a second cassette recorder. Some time after, he began taking piano lessons, but this turned out to be less successful. Troy wanted to play pop, but his teacher insisted on classical music.

He then discovered Guns n 'Roses and began playing electric guitar at the age of eight. A short time later he began to record his own songs with a four-track tape machine.

Back in Germany

At the age of 21 Troy came back to Germany. After he had always secretly listened to hip-hop in Greece - the genre of music was not particularly popular at his age - he was confronted directly with the scene in Frankfurt. At the recommendation of his parents, he began to study business administration, but broke off again to study media technology at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne. After successfully earning his diploma as a sound engineer, he completed an internship at TRO in Düsseldorf. The company took him over and he continued to develop into music production.

solo

In 2014 Troy released his debut EP History of Violence , the single White Walkers of which was used by the BBC for the Winter Olympics trailer and by Porsche, among others. In 2015 the Nautilus EP followed with the single Sirens , of which there is also a version with a feature by Kollegah . Sirens was used, among other things, for Mercedes. Most recently he published the EP Eyes Wide Shut , whose single Eyes Wide Open was used for Porsche, among others.

United Hustlers

In 2011, Troy met rapper and producer Koree through friends. He was just about to set up his own studios, Homeboy Studios. He invited Troy and shortly afterwards they founded the producer collective "United Hustlers". The audio engineer Kingsize was added later and together they began to produce some beats that would later be found on the collaboration album Jung, brutal, gutaussehend 2 by rappers Kollegah and Farid Bang. This was followed by productions for the albums King by Kollegah and #Uded by Koree. Troy then took over executive producing for the label sampler Chronik 3 and the pimp tape Volume 4 by Kollegah. The team started uploading videos to YouTube on its own channel. The Release Day format broadcast there is intended to show fans how much work there is in an album and that it is worth investing time and money in your own dreams.

style

Troy combines different genres such as breakbeat , electro , trap , techno , hip-hop and classical music for his productions . He is influenced by a wide range of artists such as Burial , Modeselektor , Jon Hopkins , Hans Zimmer and Rusty .
