Jon Hopkins
Jon Hopkins (born August 15, 1979 in London ) is a British music producer , DJ and remixer in the field of electro and house . After his career as a keyboardist for Imogen Heap , he contributed to productions by Brian Eno , Coldplay , David Holmes and others. Hopkins also produced the soundtrack for the 2010 film Monsters , which was nominated for the Ivor Novello Award . His third solo album reached number 15 on the Dance / Electronic Album Charts in 2009.
biography
Jon Hopkins was born in 1979 in Wimbledon , south London , where he grew up. At the age of seven or eight he was already enthusiastic about electronic and house music. He was a fan of Depeche Mode and the Pet Shop Boys , which also influenced his first own songs. At the age of 12, Hopkins began studying the piano in a youth group at the Royal College of Music in London, where he stayed until the age of 17. At the age of 14 he got his first computer, an Amiga 500 , on which he programmed digital music . A year later he bought from the prize money of a piano competition won a professional Roland - synthesizer , which he made full compositions.
