Alexis Zabé

Alexis Zabé (* in Mexico City ) is a Mexican cameraman .

Life

Alexis Zabé, born in Mexico City , studied there at the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos. Before he started making films, Zabé worked in advertising and made music videos, for example for Pharrell Williams and Die Antwoord .

Zabé first acted as cameraman for the short film Un volcán de lava de hielo from 1994. In 2003 the feature film Mexican Kids - Temporada de patos followed , and in 2007 Stellet Licht . For his work on the film The Florida Project by Sean Baker in 2017 he was nominated several times, including by the National Society of Film Critics . He had already made the short film Snowbird with Baker the year before . In January 2018, the film is Tyrel by Sebastián Silva at the Sundance Film Festival are presented.

For the film magazine Variety , Zabé was one of the 10 Cinematographers to Watch in 2017 .

At the end of June 2018, Zabé became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .
