Alexis von Hoensbroech (born October 3, 1970 in Cologne ) is a German businessman and Chief Executive Officer of Austrian Airlines .

education

Alexis von Hoensbroech comes from the noble family Hoensbroech . From 1990 to 1995 he studied physics at the University of Bonn and then did his doctorate on The Polarization of Pulsar Radio Emission at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy until 1999 .

Professional background

From 1999 to 2005 he worked for the management consultancy The Boston Consulting Group in Munich and Tokyo, most recently as a project manager. His customers included mainly companies from the aviation industry. In 2005, Hoensbroech moved to Deutsche Lufthansa AG and took on responsibility for strategy and investments at Lufthansa Passenger Airlines . In 2009 he was appointed Project Manager Integration Management Airlines and in this function was responsible for the integration of several airlines such as Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines into the Lufthansa Group . Between July 2010 and November 2014 he was Head of Commercial Frankfurt at Lufthansa Passenger Airlines, where he was responsible for network management, booking control and commercial management of the passenger business at the airline's largest hub. On December 1, 2014, he moved to the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG as Chief Commercial Officer. Since August 1, 2018, von Hoensbroech has been a member of the board of Austrian Airlines as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) .

Private

Alexis von Hoensbroech is married and has five children. He lives in Vienna .
