Alf Lombard

Alf Lombard (born July 8, 1902 in Paris , † March 1, 1996 in Lund ) was a Swedish Romanist and Romanist .

life and work

Lombard was the son of Emile Lombard and Louise Lundberg. He received his doctorate in Uppsala in 1930 with Erik Staaff with the thesis Les constructions nominales dans le français modern: Étude syntaxique et stylistique (Uppsala / Stockholm 1930). He was appointed to represent Emanuel Walberg at Lund University, where he was a full professor of Romance philology from 1939 to 1969. Lombard was the founder of Swedish Romanian Studies .

Lombard was honorary doctor of the Universities of Caen (1948) and Rennes (1950) and since 1947 a corresponding member of the Romanian Academy .
