In 1949 the couple moved to Wertheim over after it expropriated had been and the company in the Soviet occupation zone in a state-owned enterprise was transformed, in the GDR under the name FORON produced.
After the transition from Fischbach to the Soviet occupation zone, the machines and systems were dismantled as part of the reparation payments ordered and loaded onto wagons at Kaltennordheim station for transport to the Soviet Union. In order to enable the company to restart in Wertheim, these wagons were made by Mr. W. Zitzmann, Mr. K.-L. Ries and other initiated helpers were relocated to a previously organized locomotive in the direction of Hersfeld / Fulda the night before departure and thus rescued from the Soviet occupation zone.
The Zitzmanns set up a factory in Wertheim and started again. In 1987 alfi was taken over by the Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF for short). After the German reunification, the state-owned company in Fischbach was privatized again and now produces cookware under the name BAF - Industrie- und Oberflächentechnik GmbH (coll. Frying pans from Fischbach).
In November 2014 WMF sold the subsidiary brand alfi to the US vacuum jug manufacturer Thermos .
Due to the continuing pressure on sales and margins, Alfi was forced to give up its own logistics in 2018. This was followed by in-house production in mid-2019. Production is being relocated and is now carried out by external service providers from Germany, among others.
