Alfons Bonnekoh

Alfons Bonnekoh (* 1930 in Menden ) is a German sports doctor .

Life

After graduating from high school in his hometown of Menden in 1951, Bonnekoh studied medicine (and for a time also sport) in Freiburg , Marburg and Düsseldorf until 1958 . He also completed his doctoral thesis (subject: “The mean deviations of the electrophoretic protein fractions from the norm in various dermatoses”) in 1958 in Düsseldorf. Bonnekoh then worked as a medical assistant in Hanover , Hemer , Iserlohn and Cologne , and from 1959 to 1961 as a research assistant at the German Sport University Cologne . From 1961 to 1991 he headed the university medical service at the sports university. From 1975 to 1992 he held the rank of academic director.

Bonnekoh worked for the German Sports Medical Association (DSÄB) in the training of sports medicine, in addition at the State Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia in the training of trainers and at the German Football Association in the training of football teachers. Between 1976 and 1980 Bonnekoh worked  as a team doctor for the Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln . In addition, in the 1970s he was team doctor for the German badminton and national hockey teams for women and men and supervised the selection at European and World Championships, among others.

For his services in sports medicine, Bonnekoh was awarded medals from the German Sport University, the City of Cologne and the Badge of Honor from the German Association of Sports Physicians.

In his scientific work, Bonnekoh dealt in particular with the subject areas of sports traumatology, diagnosis and therapy of primary and secondary sports damage, as well as anatomy and physiology.
