Literary activity

In addition to his educational work, Alfons Klein has been a writer since the 1990s. His literary interest is the everyday life of ordinary people, whose life situations he describes precisely. In this context, Klein questions in his stories and novels the tension between striving for emancipation and bourgeois notions of order in the Adenauer period of the 50s and early 60s. The interactions between the regulatory powers "religion" and "bourgeoisie" and the claim to individual self-realization are his central theme. Klein often allows autobiographical elements to flow into his literary works. His literature is consistently characterized by a fine sense of humor, which he describes in a self-assessment as his "red literary line".
Klein undertakes numerous reading tours in German-speaking countries, including the Permanent Representation of Saarland to the federal government in Berlin (2011).
