Alfonso Corradi (painter)

Alfonso Corradi (born February 8, 1889 in Castelnovo di Sotto ( Meletole district ), Reggio Emilia province , † February 4, 1972 in Milan ) was an Italian painter .

Life

Corradi was born as the son of Riccardo Corradi and Renata Soncini in the former home of Senator Luigi Melegari (1805-1881). He attended the Scuola di Ornato at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, where he lived and worked. He then continued his self-taught education . Corradi mainly devoted himself to landscape painting in Lombardy and the Po Valley as well as still life painting.

From 1919 he took part in exhibitions in Rome and other Italian cities and was awarded the Bergamo Prize in 1939 . For the painting Ponte in Chiatte a Boretto shown at the exhibition Paesaggio reggiano in Milan, he received the third prize of the Premio Antonio Fentanesi . The fascist newspaper Il Solco fascista ran a review of Corradi's work in its July 19 and October 23, 1942 editions.

On the XX. Milan Biennial In 1957, the Lombardy Savings Bank bought his painting Lo Stagno ( The Pond ). A retrospective in the Galleria Bolzani di Milano in 1958 was received positively by critics and was also considered a commercial success. The Galleria d'arte Moderna di Milano acquired his painting Il Lambro . Works by the artist are offered in auction shops.
