Alfonso García (born October 24, 1969 in Valencia ) is a former professional footballer and current coach. He has Spanish citizenship, but was considered a football German during his playing days. He played 22 Bundesliga and 188 second division games. He scored one or 33 goals.

Player career

García began his career at FSV 08 Bissingen , then played for SGV Freiberg before moving to SpVgg Unterhaching in 1991 . In 1992 he rose to the 2nd Bundesliga with the Munich suburbs . In Unterhaching , the striker quickly became a crowd favorite.

His greatest success was promotion to the 1st Bundesliga in 1999. There, however, he lost his regular place. After relegation in 2001 he moved to the second division SSV Reutlingen 05 , where he scored twelve goals in 53 games until 2003. Then the Spaniard let his career end with his hometown club in Bissingen .

Coaching career

After his professional career, García became a player-coach at his home club FSV 08 Bissingen . With the then district division he reached the final in the 2003/04 WFV Cup , which the outsider lost 8-0 against the third division VfR Aalen , as befits his standing . Later he concentrated only on the coaching job and rose in 2006 with the Bissingers in the association league.

From July 2009 to June 2011 he coached TSG Backnang 1919 .

In January 2012 he became head coach of the national league club SV Hellas 94 Bietigheim . García led the club in the second half of the season and with three victories in the relegation to the association league. Due to differing views, he resigned in January 2013.

In July 2013 García returned as head coach for FSV 08 Bissingen, who had just been relegated to the association league . After the direct return in the 2013/14 season was narrowly missed, he was promoted to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg in the 2014/15 season as an association league champion . In the first league year under García they landed in 3rd place and moved into the final of the WFV Cup , in which they lost 2: 5 to league competitor FV Ravensburg in the Gazi Stadium on the Waldau . In January 2017, the club announced that there would be a role reversal in the coaching team. For private reasons, García wanted to slow down and moved to the position of assistant coach. His previous assistant coach Andreas Lechner took over the position of head coach.

In February 2018 it was announced that Lechner will leave the club at the end of the season and García will take over the position of head coach at FSV 08 Bissingen again for the 2018/19 season. Fabrizio D'Amario and Oronzo Vitale will act as assistant coaches.

García holds the A license.
