Alfornelos is a freguesia (municipality) in the concelho ( district or municipality ) of Amadora . 10,411 people live in an area of 0.8 km² (as of June 30, 2011). The population density is thus 12,324 inhabitants per km ².
The church was organized on July 12, 1997 by splitting off from the Brandoa Ward .
Surname
At the beginning of the 20th century, when the region developed into an urban settlement, the name Casal de Alfornel was coined, translated into German as "Neu-Alfornel". In search of the further origin of the name, which can be found in the Arabic Al-Forner, which means those who work on the oven (forneiro) , it is the place of the bakers .

Alfornelos is flanked by two hills, a spring (on the border with Odivelas district ) and another hill in the northeast, on the border with the neighboring municipality of Brandoa.
