Alfred Behrmann

Alfred Behrmann (born February 21, 1928 in Berlin ) is a German literary scholar and university professor.

Life

Behrmann studied German and English in Berlin and Philadelphia (USA). In 1956 he received his doctorate from the Free University of Berlin .

He then taught Modern German Philology at the FU until 1993 , initially as an academic adviser, then as a university professor without an actual habilitation.

Behrmann initially specialized in writing a series of handbooks on subjects from German and literary studies. He has also published in the field of comparative literature and translated English literature from the 18th century ( Aphra Behn and Henry Fielding ).

In 2010 he published Umrisse at Königshausen & Neumann . Small drawings according to the moral nature .
