Alfred Freitag (born February 24, 1880 in Langensalza ; † March 6, 1959 in Mainz ) was a Hessian politician ( SPD Hessen ) and a member of the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

Family and life

Alfred Freitag was the son of the businessman Karl Christian Freitag and his wife Marie Luise née Eisenhuth. He married Anna Eva, born Dommershausen , on May 11, 1906 in Prath .

Alfred Freitag worked as a carpenter and warehouse worker and later as party secretary in Mainz.

politics

On March 5, 1933, he was elected to the Reichstag. The 7th Hessian Landtag was re-established based on the provisional law to bring the federal states into line with the Reich in line with this election result.

Alfred Freitag was the only Social Democrat who entered the state parliament as a result. However, the seats of the SPD were abolished by the new rulers on July 7th with the decree to secure the state leadership . Alfred Freitag was therefore unable to achieve any effect in the state parliament.
