Alfred Gisel

Alfred Gisel (born June 5, 1911 in Vienna ; † February 29, 2012 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ), physician and emeritus university professor. He was 1971-1973 member of the Bundesrat and 1973-1975 Member of the National Council .

Life

Gisel attended elementary school from 1917 to 1922 and then graduated from a humanistic grammar school between 1922 and 1930. After leaving school he studied from 1930 to 1937 at the University of Vienna medicine and graduated in 1937 , Dr. med. univ. Gisel began his professional career as an assistant, then became a senior assistant and finally a specialist in theoretical medicine. After his lectureship in 1951 he became a lecturer for anatomy and anatomical drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna , he also worked as chief physician of the Austrian Red Cross and from 1972 taught as an associate professor for applied anatomy at the University of Vienna. In 1973 he was finally promoted to full university professor.

Gisel began his political career in 1959 as a member of the municipal council and member of the Vienna State Parliament. Gisel held this office until 1971 and was also chairman of the Vienna City Council from 1969 to 1971. He then represented the SPÖ from October 22, 1971 to November 23, 1973 in the Federal Council and then moved to the National Council from November 26, 1973 to November 4, 1975. Within the party, he was involved as deputy chairman of the SPÖ Wien- Alsergrund , he was also chairman of the Association of Socialist University Lecturers in the BSA and second president of the State Medical Council for Vienna.

Gisel was buried at the Mauer cemetery in Vienna.
