Alfred Kühn (politician)

Alfred Kühn (born October 22, 1920 in Bruchhof , today Homburg ; † January 11, 1999 ) was a German trade unionist and politician of the SPD .

Kühn was elected union secretary of IG Metall in 1956 , and from 1961 to 1984 he was the first authorized representative to head IG Metall's Homburg office.

In 1960 Kühn was elected to the district council of the Homburg district for the first time . In 1969 he ran unsuccessfully for the German Bundestag . The following year he was elected to the Saarland Landtag , to which he belonged for one electoral term. In 1975 he retired from party political offices after suffering several heart attacks.

At the same time Kühn held other offices, for example he was chairman of the Chamber of Labor and the State Insurance Institute of Saarland . From 1984 he held the position of deputy chairman of the Broadcasting Council of Saarland Broadcasting , into which he was elected as a representative of the Chamber of Labor.

He was buried in the main cemetery in Homburg.
