Alfred Kranich (politician)

Alfred Kranich (born December 20, 1930 in Großpetersdorf ; † May 3, 1998 in Oberwart ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and state official. Kranich was married and represented the ÖVP in the Burgenland state parliament from 1960 to 1973 .

Kranich was born as the son of the gendarmerie officer Alexander Kranich from Großpetersdorf and attended elementary and secondary school in Pinkafeld . He then moved to the Bundesrealgymnasium in Oberschützen and passed his Matura there in 1951. He then studied law at the University of Vienna and graduated in 1956 with the academic degree Dr. jur. from. After his court year, Kranich worked as an administrative lawyer at the Burgenland Provincial Government from 1957 to 1960, and from 1958 to 1964 he was also deputy district captain in Oberwart . Kranich was district captain of the Oberwart district from 1973 to 1995. In 1967 he was appointed to the government council, in 1972 to the senior government councilor and in 1980 to the real councilor. From May 28, 1994, Kranich was President of the Austrian Red Cross .

Kranich became involved in local politics in the 1950s and was ÖVP local party chairman and councilor in Pinkafeld from 1958. On July 27, 1960 he was sworn in as a member of the state parliament, and in 1967 he became mayor. When Kranich became district captain in 1973, he resigned from his political offices. He resigned from the mayor's office and renounced his mandate as a member of the state parliament on December 17, 1973.

He was a member of the Catholic associations Austro-Peisonia Vienna (ÖCV) and Asciburgia Oberschützen (MKV).
