Alfred Lipka
Alfred Lipka (* 1931 in Schreckenstein near Aussig ; † July 12, 2010 in Berlin ) was a German violist .
Life
Lipka studied violin and viola in Erfurt and at the music academies in Weimar and Leipzig . He won prizes at the international viola competitions in Markneukirchen , Budapest and Geneva .
In 1955 he became concertmaster at the Landeskapelle Eisenach and from 1958 to 1963 he was solo violist of the Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra . He then moved to the Staatskapelle Berlin as solo violist , where he worked until 1975. In addition, he was a member of the string quartet of the German State Opera for many years , together with Egon Morbitzer (1st violin), Bernd Müller (2nd violin) and Karl-Heinz Schröter (cello).
From 1975 to 2002 he was a professor at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin .
Lipka has given concerts as a soloist and chamber musician in almost every country in Europe and in Japan and has led international master classes in Germany, Switzerland , Austria , Hungary , Great Britain , Finland and Greece .
He has recorded numerous works for his instrument for the record, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. He not only preferred classical works, but was also committed to contemporary compositions.
