Alfred Peyser

Alfred Peyser (born December 23, 1870 in Cedynia ; died July 8, 1955 in Baden-Baden ) was a German ENT doctor.

Life

Peyser began to study medicine at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin . There he became a member of the liberal fraternity Neo-Silesia, which in 1919 was one of the founders of the Burschenbunds-Convent . He moved to the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , which made him Dr. med. PhD. Approved in 1894 , he returned to Berlin. He became a doctor for ear, nose and throat medicine and established himself as an ENT doctor in Berlin-Charlottenburg . He was an independent doctor at the City Hospital Westend . In 1906 he founded the seminar for social medicine in Berlinwhich he directed for years. As a medical councilor , he was a Freemason at the Berlin Lodge Hammonia zur Treue . As a member of the Association of National German Jews , he was elected (last) chairman of the Jewish reform community in 1930 . In 1933 he was dismissed from the Charlottenburg municipal service and imprisoned. After his license to practice medicine was revoked in 1938, he emigrated to Sweden in 1939. He earned his living as a doctor and consultant for a Swedish pharmaceutical company.

Peyser was married in 1902 to Sophie Fraenkel, born in Breslau in 1883 (the largest Jewish community in the German Empire after Berlin). The marriage has three children, including the daughter Dora Peyser . They had already gone into exile in 1934.
