Life

After elementary school, Alfred Rieger attended business school, later he continued his education at an evening college and the administration academy. Rieger joined the NSDAP on October 1, 1931, so he was considered an " old fighter " in the language of National Socialism . He was district leader of the NSDAP in Upper Silesia, from autumn 1938 to summer 1939 in Falkenberg , then until 1942 in Kreuzburg , then until 1945 in Groß Strehlitz OS. He had the NSDAP rank of main section leader , in December 1941 he was promoted to the NSDAP rank of division leader.

Rieger joined the FDP in 1948. In 1949 he became a consultant in the state office and from 1956 worked as chief executive of the FDP state association in North Rhine-Westphalia . Rieger was together with Walter Scheel and Wolfgang Döring , two of the so-called Young Turks of the FDP, a member of the Düsseldorf FDP district association. As managing director of the largest state association of the FDP, Rieger was a political organizer who was involved in the change of the coalition of the FDP in the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament from the CDU to the SPD in 1956, which was also significant in terms of federal politics.

Rieger himself only moved into the state parliament later, he moved up to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament on October 2, 1961 during the current fourth electoral period. In the following state elections in 1962 and 1966, he was re-elected to the state parliament via the FDP state list. He was an MP from October 2, 1961 to July 25, 1970.
