Alfred Schmidt (born June 3, 1908 in Charlottenburg near Berlin , † October 24, 1978 in Berlin) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Alfred Schmidt attended elementary school and trained as a locksmith and mechanic . He joined the German Metalworkers Association (DMV) in 1923 and the SPD in 1927. From 1927 he worked as a locksmith for the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG). After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in 1933, Schmidt was reprimanded for political reasons. From 1934 to 1943 he worked as a mechanic at Heliowatt , Deutsche Industriewerke and Osram . Then he was drafted into the Wehrmacht .

After the Second World War , Schmidt worked again at BVG, where he became a works council . In the first Berlin election in 1946 he was elected to the city ​​council of Greater Berlin , at the end of 1950 he resigned.
