Alfred Urbański (born January 13, 1899 , † September 10, 1983 ) was a Polish politician and Prime Minister of the Polish government-in-exile from 1972 to 1976 .

Life

Urbański, who came from the Polish nobility ( Szlachta ), worked as an economist after graduating .

As a representative of the Polish Socialist Party ( Polska Partia Socjalistyczna ) he belonged from 1969 to August 1972, alongside Władysław Anders and Edward Raczyński, to the so-called Council of Three ( Rada Trzech ), which was constituted in 1954 after the exiled President August Zaleski refused to resign as promised . After Zaleski's death on April 7, 1972, the Council of Three recognized his successor Stanisław Ostrowski as president in exile and then dissolved.

Urbański became Prime Minister of the Polish government in exile on July 18, 1972, succeeding Zygmunt Muchniewski . He resigned from this office on July 15, 1976 and was replaced by Kazimierz Sabbat in August .
