Aleksander Zawisza
Aleksander Zawisza (born December 12, 1896 , † March 28, 1977 ) was a Polish politician and Prime Minister of the Polish government in exile .
biography
Zawisza entered the diplomatic service after finishing school . There he became counselor at the embassy in Rome in 1940 . He then worked as a consul in Africa between 1942 and 1945 .
After the end of World War II, he fled to the West, where he soon after employees of the government in exile in London was. On September 10, 1955, he was appointed Minister for Emigration to his cabinet by the exile Prime Minister Antoni Pająk . As such, he played a key role in the transfer of the War Archives of the Polish Ministry of Information from the United Kingdom to the Hoover Institution of Stanford University in 1959 . Furthermore, he tried to achieve a certain neutrality towards the now communist states People's Republic of Poland , Lithuanian SSR , Latvian SSR , Czechoslovakia , People's Republic of Romania and Hungary .
On June 25, 1965, he succeeded Pająk as Prime Minister of the Polish government-in-exile. He held this office until his replacement by Zygmunt Muchniewski on July 16, 1970.
