Alfred Quail

Alfred Richard Wachtel (* 1871 ; † October 16, 1961 ) was a German engineer . In 1906 he was the founding director of the Konstanz Technical Center, today's Konstanz University of Technology, Economics and Design .

Life

Alfred Wachtel was an engineer and chairman of the "Bodensee" district association of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) .

In 1906, Wachtel founded the private "Higher Technical College Constance for mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, structural and civil engineering" (Technikum Konstanz), today's University of Konstanz Technology, Economics and Design (HTWG Konstanz), in the rear building at Hussenstrasse 17 in Constance. Wachtel was director of the Konstanz technical center until 1938.

He is the namesake of the "Alfred Wachtel Prize" awarded by the HTWG Konstanz since 1982 and the "Alfred Wachtel Hall" in building P of the university campus. In Constance , the "Alfred Wachtel-Strasse" was named after him.
