Georg Schug

Georg Schug (born March 8, 1917 in Strasbourg ; † August 2, 2007 in Konstanz ) was a German electrical engineer . He was rector of the Konstanz University of Applied Sciences , today's Konstanz University of Technology, Economics and Design , from 1971 to 1977.

Life

After attending school in Bamberg , he received a scholarship from the Maximilianeum Foundation in 1935 . He studied electrical engineering and communications engineering at the Technical University of Munich and graduated with honors in 1939. During the war years he was involved in the development of radars .

After the end of the Second World War, Schug was one of the first lecturers at the Constance School of Engineering and in 1946 became professor of electrical communications technology, especially transmission technology and information and correlation in the electrical engineering department at the Constance State School of Engineering, and remained so until his retirement in 1982. He was department head from 1964 to 1973 and from 1977 to 1982.

In 1973 the large senate of the University of Konstanz appointed Professor Georg Schug as Adolf Habermann's successor . Schug was thus the first elected rector of the reorganized university according to the national regulations in the university framework law and the state university law 1971 created "University of Applied Sciences Konstanz (FH)" (from 1972: "University of Konstanz") . He has set essential cornerstones for the positive development of the Konstanz University. His successor in 1977 was Prof. Norbert W. Luft .
