Alfred Wagenhofer

Alfred Wagenhofer (born May 9, 1959 in Vienna ) is an Austrian economist.

He studied at the Technical University of Vienna (doctorate in 1984), completed his habilitation there in 1990, and in 1991 became director of the IUC (Institute for Corporate Accounting and Controlling) at the University of Graz . Since 2006 he has been head of the 'Center for Accounting Research' at the University of Graz.

His main research interests are internal company accounting , external company accounting , controlling , value-based management, international accounting and agency theory .

His best-known book is accounting and balance sheet analysis ; it was published in its 14th edition in 2019.

He is the editor-in-chief of the magazine for business research (zfbf) and Schmalenbach Business Review and writes for numerous specialist journals.

Since 2008 he has been a full member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences .
