Algirdas Gricius (political scientist)

Algirdas Gricius (born February 11, 1937 in Klaipėda , † October 21, 2013 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian politician.

Life

From 1945 to 1947 he studied in Liaunai near Priekulė . After graduating from high school in the district of Klaipėda from 1947 to 1954 , he graduated from 1955 to 1960 with a degree in physics and production at the Šiaulių pedagoginis institutas . From 1960 he worked in Vilnius , from 1963 to 1976 engineer at the “Venta” research institute for electronics . He received his doctorate in 1972. From 1990 taught at the Department of Political Science , from 1992 as a lecturer at the Institute for International Relations of the Vilniaus universitetas . From 1992 to 1996 and from 2000 to 2004 he was a member of the Seimas (with LDDP ). From 2000 to 2011 he was a member of the Vilnius City Council.

In 1961 he became the Lithuanian handball champion. He was a co-founder of the Algirdas Brazauskas Foundation.

From 1965 to 1989 he was a member of the CPSU , 1990–1996 of Lietuvos democinė darbo partija , from 1998 of Lietuvos liberalų sąjunga , from 2003 of Liberalų ir centro sąjunga and from 2006 of Lietuvos liberalų sąjūdis .
