The Alianza por Chile was a right-wing party alliance in Chile . It was replaced in 2015 by Allianz Chile Vamos . There is also the somewhat larger center-left group Concertación and the left- wing coalition Juntos Podemos, which is not represented in parliament . The binomial electoral system of Chile favors the formation of two large blocs and favors the second strongest alliance, the Alianza.

It consists of the two parties

Alianza por Chile has so far entered elections under five names.

  • Democracia y Progreso (1989-1992)
  • Participación y Progreso (1992-1993)
  • Unión por el Progreso (1993–1996)
  • Unión por Chile (1996-2000)

In the elections in December 2005 , the two parties each had their own candidates for the first ballot; for the second ballot on January 15, 2006 , both parties supported Sebastián Piñera, the candidate of the Renovación Nacional , after Joaquín Lavín from the Unión Demócrata Independiente only came third who had reached four candidates. In the parliamentary elections, which took place at the same time, the alliance entered with a common list.
