The Alingar (alternative spelling: Alīngār) is a left tributary of the Kabul in the east of Afghanistan .

The Alingar rises in the southwestern Hindu Kush in the west of the Nuristan province . It flows through the mountains in a predominantly southerly direction and flows through the Mandol and Nuristan districts of the Nuristan Province. Then the Alingar flows through the eponymous Alingar the province of Laghman . Not far from the provincial capital Mihtarlam , the Alishing flows into the river on the right. The Alingar finally flows into the Kabul 17 km northwest of the city of Jalalabad above the Daronta Dam .

The Alingar has a length of about 180 km. The mean discharge of the Alingar is 50 m³ / s. Its catchment area covers about 6160 km². There is a smaller reservoir at the upper reaches of the Alingar. The river plays an important role in irrigating the region through which it flows.
