Synonyms

The Alionza grape variety is also known under the names Aglionza, Aleonza, Alionga bianca del Bolognese, Allionza, Glionza, Leonza and Uva Lonza. It was also erroneously called Gatta, Gatta Alionza, Schiava bianca.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. She is hairy white wool.
  • The medium-sized, pentagonal leaves are five-lobed and deeply indented (see also the article leaf shape ). The stem bay is open in a V-shape. The leaf margin is bluntly serrated. The teeth are only medium-sized.
  • The elongated, pyramidal grape is large and quite loose. The round berries are large and yellowish in color.

The grape variety sprouts late and ripens about 25 days after the Gutedel and is therefore considered to ripen in the middle of the period.

Alionza is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphroditic flowers and is therefore self-fruiting. In viticulture , the economic disadvantage of not having to grow male plants that produce yield is avoided.
