Alje Schut (born February 18, 1981 in Utrecht ) is a Dutch football player . The central defender has been part of the professional squad of South African Mamelodi Sundowns FC since summer 2012 .
Career
society
Schut has been part of the professional squad of FC Utrecht since the 1999/00 season . Before that he played in the youth division of Feyenoord Rotterdam . After moving to FCU , he made his debut in the Dutch Eredivisie on October 3, 1999 . In the 1: 2 defeat by Roda JC Kerkrade , the defender was substituted on for Pascal Bosschaart in the 83rd minute . By the end of the season he came to three more league appearances. In the two following years he got more practice, but was always a substitute, but was also able to score his first competitive goal for Utrecht. In the 2002/03 season he finally became a regular player. It remained the only season so far in which Schut completed over thirty Eredivisie games. The following year, he lost his place among the top eleven and found himself on the bench. The 2005/06 season, in which he did not play one game, was then very bitter. In 2003 and 2004 he celebrated his only three national successes so far. After defeating Feyenoord Rotterdam in the final of the KNVB Cup in 2003 , the team repeated their success in 2004 and defeated Twente Enschede 1-0. Before the start of the 2004/05 season, FC Utrecht won the Johan Cruyff Schaal for the first time, alongside the three big teams (Feyenoord Rotterdam, Ajax Amsterdam , PSV Eindhoven ) .
After 13 years at FCU, the 31-year-old continued his career abroad in the 2012/13 season. He moved to the South African first division club Mamelodi Sundowns , which are trained by Schut's compatriot Johan Neeskens .
National team
Schut was a junior international of the Netherlands. With the U-21 of the Orange, he took part in a game against Germany in November 2002. He took part in two of three preliminary round games. After a defeat, a draw and a win, the team was eliminated in the group stage.
