All I Wanna Do is a pop song of the American rock singer Sheryl Crow , who from her, David Baerwald, Bill Bottrell, Wyn Cooper and Kevin Gilbert wrote was. The single was released in the summer of 1994 and was Crow's global breakthrough as a commercial singer. To date, All I Wanna Do is her most successful piece. The title was released as the second single from their debut album Tuesday Night Music Club .

Crow won two Grammys for the song at the 1995 Grammy Awards and was nominated for another. For several weeks, the single reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one in the adult contemporary charts and number four in the UK singles charts .

The lyrics and content of the song are based on the poem Fun by Wyn Cooper. Crow's music producer Bill Bottrell got the rights to some lines from Cooper's book The Country of Here Below . Crow arranged fun in the lyrics and content of the song - Cooper was listed as the original songwriter on the single . With the success of the single, Cooper's book became a bestseller.

The first line of the song This ain't no disco , which Crow begins with spoken chant , is a tribute to the song Life During Wartime by the Talking Heads .

Music video

The music video was directed by David Hogan, who also directed Crows Leaving Las Vegas . The video shows Crow and her band on the street playing the song. The song was filmed outside the Roxy Theater on the corner of Franklin Street and North 1st Street in Clarksville , Tennessee .

Cover versions

The English singer-songwriter Amy Studt asked Sheryl Crow if she could cover her hit. Crow agreed to this. Studt's version was released on January 12, 2004, but met with very little success.

The American singer Joanne Farrell released a dance version of the song in 1995 .

The German band Scooter covered the song in 2004 for their album Mind the Gap .
