Mind the Gap is the tenth studio album by the German Eurodance band Scooter . It was released in three versions on November 8, 2004. The Basic Edition includes all eleven new studio tracks, but no booklet . The regular edition also contains the title Jigga Jigga! and Trip To Nowhere and was published with a booklet. The deluxe edition appeared with cardboard cover, a double-sided poster and a second CD containing the titles of the previously exclusive to the Internet to download appeared live album 10th Anniversary Concert contains. The title alludes to an automatic warning announcement on the underground stations of London. Mind the gap means: pay attention to the gap (between the train and the platform).

The album was recorded in Loop DC Studios 1 and 2 in Hamburg-Bramfeld . It was produced and mixed by Jay Frog and Rick J. Jordan and HP Baxxter, the texts for the MC parts come from HP Baxxter, who calls himself MCMC no digeddy H. in the imprint .

The cover designed by Marc Schilkowski shows a photo by Mathias Bothor. It shows a platform of a German subway. On the tunnel wall on the other side of the tracks is written Mind the Gap in yellow block letters, partly overlaid by a loudspeaker pictogram . The lettering corresponds to a wide yellow stripe on the platform edge, which is lost in the darkness of the tunnel.

The photos on the multimedia part are from Bothor and Jan Schwede, the video from Marc Schoelermann, Melanie Mohr and Michael Menke.

music

Laut.de speaks in his review of Mind the Gap of "tried and tested recipes" that are used on this album and are not of very high quality, but promise "flat ecstasy". As usual, the album contains many cover versions and adaptations of already known melodies and makes use of a wide variety of musical styles.

Killer Bees is an intro. It consists of the hum of insects and a voice repeating Mind the Gap in the background . One (Always Hardcore) is in the chorus a cover version of the happy hardcore track Always Hardcore (Radio Mix) by Bodylotion from 1996, a melody is also played back subtly. This cover met with disapproval in the gabber scene .

Shake That! Samples on the one hand Shake Your Booty by KC and the Sunshine Band from 1976, on the other hand the song After Dark by Tito & Tarantula , which was made famous by the film From Dusk Till Dawn . My Eyes Are Dry partially covers No Tears by the Californian post-punk band Tuxedomoon from 1978. All I Wanna Do is a breakbeat / trance track that uses the highly pitched chorus of Sheryl Crow's eponymous hit.

Panties Wanted contains a funk bass line. It was written by Serhat Sakin and Matthias Weber, known as Syke 'n' Sugarstarr . Trance-Atlantic is a pure trance instrumental, while Stripped is a pretty authentic cover of Depeche Mode 's 1986 song of the same name.

In Suavemente , Scooter sample Elvis Crespo's hit from his 1998 album of the same name and The Avenger's Back uses music from Eddie Floyd's 1960s hit Knock On Wood .
