No Time to Chill ( dt. "No time to rest" about) is the fifth studio album of the German techno band Scooter . It was released on July 20, 1998 and, like almost every Scooter album, contains twelve tracks. With the album, the group made it to the top of the Finnish album charts for the first and so far only time. However, only Germany is taken into account , where the record made it to 4th place, which was the second-best position of a Scooter album in Germany to date, Austria with position 27, Switzerland with position 20 and Sweden with position 16 , as well as Great Britain .

The album was produced in Loop DC Studios 1 and 2 in Hamburg . The executive producers were Scooter members Axel Coon and Rick J. Jordan, the lyrics to the songs were largely written by HP Baxxter.

The cover was designed by Marc Schilkowski, who was also responsible for the design of other scooter productions. The photos for this come from Holger Roschlaub from Hamburg. The singer Nikk was responsible for the backing vocals , an additional guitar was played by Helge Vogt .

music

The album mainly contains borrowings from hard house , trance , downtempo and electro . As on most Scooter albums, there are also many cover versions and adaptations of well-known melodies. For example, How Much Is The Fish includes the traditional Breton song Son ar chistr , which became known to the Dutch group bots in 1976 under the title Zeven dagen lang , while in Germany it is generally sung as What do we want to drink . For We Are The Greatest , Scooter sampled a melody from the song Street Dance , which was published in 1982 by the American rap project Break Machine , and the lyrics to Don't Stop The Rock , a song by the rap group released in 1985 Freestyle .

With I Was Made for Lovin 'You , Scooter covered one of the most famous songs by the American rock band KISS from their 1979 album Dynasty . It was written by Paul Stanley , Desmond Child and Vini Poncia . And like on Our Happy Hardcore with Rebel Yell, there is a Billy Idol cover with Eyes Without A Face , also from the album Rebel Yell . The title refers to the French horror classic from 1960 by director Georges Franju , based on a novel by Jean Redon .

Expecting More From Ratty means "more is to be expected from Ratty". Scooter alludes to their side project Ratty , with which they released two singles from 2000.

Singles

How Much Is the Fish?

The single with the traditional Breton melody was released on June 1, 1998. The cover designed by Marc Schilkowski shows a fish lying on a surface. On the back cover you can see three fish lying on a newspaper with a picture of the scooter. The newspaper lies on a chair that is peeling off the same color as the front cover. The single was very successful in Belgium, where it took first place in the charts, and in Finland , where it took second place. In Germany the single landed on position 3, in Austria on 9th place and in Switzerland on position 13th. In Sweden and Norway the single reached 23rd and 19th place. In the period that followed, Scooter almost only released cover songs as singles.

In the video clip for How Much Is The Fish , Scooter play the song on the one hand in front of a large screen and on the other hand in a hall during a concert, which is displayed on this screen. The action interspersed next to it takes place in a dark, rainy backyard, in which some young men are playing soccer. Then a motorcycle gang appears and snatches the handbag of a young woman. The soccer players and the woman collect the bag from the motorcyclists together.

The single was released on October 1, 1998 as a double-A single. A separate music video is being shot for both We Are The Greatest and I Was Made For Lovin 'You . However, the single cannot establish itself commercially: Germany place 26, Austria place 36.

The video clip for We Are The Greatest takes place in a futuristic warehouse. The three scooter members stand in three cages dressed in black and are controlled from behind using keyboards. A crowd dressed in white is dancing in front of them and performing breakdance interludes.

In the video clip for I Was Made For Lovin 'You , Scooter portray themselves as a rock group with electric guitar , drums , keyboard and Marshall amps. HP Baxxter sings about a woman who wanders around in a computer-animated environment.
