The Allahein (spelling variant: Halahein ; name variant: San Pedro [rare], probably the old Portuguese name) is a small river in the West African state of Gambia .
geography
The Allahein rises in the West Coast region , near Brikama , the second largest city in Gambia. From there it flows with a length of 45 kilometers in a south-westerly direction until it reaches the coordinate 13 ° 2 ' N , 16 ° 44' W , which is also Gambia's southernmost point, near the town of Kartong , with a width of about 150 meters in the Atlantic Ocean flows .
For most of the river it represents the border river to the state of Senegal . There are mangrove forests in the winding course of the last 30 kilometers of the river to the sea .
