The Allardyce Range is a mountain range that rises south of Cumberland Bay and dominates the central part of South Georgia . The highest peak is Mount Paget ( 2935  m ), which is also the highest point in the whole of the United Kingdom . Other important peaks are Mount Sugartop ( 2325  m ) and Mount Roots ( 2280  m ).

Although neither James Cook (1775) nor Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen (1819) drew the mountains on their maps of South Georgia, both undoubtedly saw them. They were named around 1915 after Sir William L. Allardyce (1861–1930), Governor of the Falkland Islands from 1904 to 1914.
