Allison Roe (born Deed ; born May 30, 1956 ) is a former New Zealand marathon runner .

In 1974 she became national champion in cross-country skiing . At the World Cross Country Championships in Rabat in 1975 , she came in 29th place and won silver with the New Zealand team.

In 1980 she was second in her premiere over the 42.195 km in the Auckland Marathon in 2:51:45 h. In autumn she improved as third in the Nike-OTC Marathon to 2:34:29 h and was fourth in the Tokyo International Women's Marathon .

Her most successful year followed. In the Boston Marathon , she improved the course record by almost eight minutes to 2:26:46 h and set a national record that was only beaten by Kimberley Smith in 2010 . In the summer she won the Peachtree Road Race, and in the fall she won the New York City Marathon in 2:25:29 h and thus remained below the supposed world record, which Grete Waitz had in the same place a year earlier with 2:25 : Had set up 42 h. A remeasurement of the route showed, however, that the course was too short by 150 m.

After falling down stairs, she couldn't get back to her top form. However, she won the 1982 Seoul International Marathon and was seventh in the Osaka Women's Marathon in 1984 ; she also won national titles in cycling and triathlon .

After her active career, she became a television sports commentator and started her own television production company. She has two children with her ex-husband Richard Roe. She is married to Allan Barwick in her second marriage.

In 2002 she received the Abebe Bikila Award , and in 2010 she was inducted into the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame . With the Allison Roe Trust , she supports health prevention projects.
