Allotalanta is a genus of butterflies from the family of cosmopterigidae (Cosmopterigidae).

features

The representatives of the genus are medium-sized butterflies. The head is covered with close-fitting scales , only on the sides they protrude slightly. The antennae are three-quarters the length of the fore wings. The labial palps are long, slightly flattened and bent back. The fore wings are broad and lanceolate. They are either monochrome or drawn with dots and lines. The hind wings are as wide as the fore wings and have a rounded apex .

The genital fittings of the males are slightly asymmetrical. The brachia are either symmetrical or asymmetrical, they are of different lengths and shapes. The tegumen is large and has a broad base. It tapers distally . The blades are simple, short and wide and tapered distally. The valvellae are long and more or less symmetrical. The aedeagus is very long and curved in a circle. The 8th abdominal tergite is heavily sclerotized , the 8th abdominal sternite is covered with long bristles.

In females, the Apophyses posteriores are approximately twice as long as the Apophyses anteriores . The sterigma is formed by a heavily sclerotized plate with lateral protrusions. The ductus bursae is long, ball-shaped and membranous. The corpus bursae is oval and has two small signs that are surrounded by comb-like protrusions.

The representatives of the genus are mainly native to the Afrotropis and the Orientalis .

Systematics

The genus Allotalanta currently includes twelve species, only one of which is native to the Palearctic . The type species of the genus is Allotalanta autophaea .
