Alma is a contemporary Austrian folk music ensemble.

history

The quintet was founded in Vienna in 2011 and consists of three violins , a double bass and an accordion . Since the beginning, the ensemble has played a large number of concerts, especially in German-speaking countries. Over the years, however, the invitations to international festivals also increased, beyond the borders of Central Europe. In 2013 the debut album Nativa was released on the label col legno , which in the same year was on the list of the best of the “ Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik ”. Her second album, called Transalpin, followed in 2015 and the third album, Oeo , was released in 2017.

style

Alma have thrown traditional folk music in a modern, casual garb without disguising it: they playfully combine traditional folk music with complex arrangements and naturally combine classical and folk music, country music and polka, yodels and waltzes, bourrée and musette, with each tone with a big one Respect is set and there is always enough space for inspiration. Alma's music pushes boundaries without breaking musical traditions.
