Alois Brandhofer

Alois Brandhofer (born June 19, 1951 in Grabenegg ( Ruprechtshofen )) is an Austrian clarinetist and professor emeritus. He was a professor at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and was principal clarinet with the Vienna Symphony and the Berlin Philharmonic .

Life

Brandhofer studied clarinet with the then solo clarinetist of the Vienna Philharmonic, Rudolf Jettel, at the Vienna Music Academy .

From 1972 to 1986 he was principal clarinet with the Vienna Symphony and from 1986 to 1992 principal clarinet with the Berlin Philharmonic. As a soloist and chamber musician, travels in Europe and overseas. Solo concerts with conductors such as CM Giulini, T. Guschlbauer, L. Hager, G. Bertini, J. Lopez Cobos, Chr. Eschenbach.

From 1992 until his retirement, Brandhofer was professor at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.

Brandhofer was a member of the Ensemble of the 20th Century and the Philharmonic Octet Berlin . As a soloist and chamber musician he is, among other things with the Amadeus Quartet , the Haydn Trio Vienna , the Gewandhaus-Quartett Leipzig, Brandis Quartet, Margaret Price , Thomas Christian , Andras Schiff and Milan Turkovic occurred and appeared several times at the Salzburg Festival with .
