Rudolf Jettel
Rudolf Jettel (born March 21, 1903 in the Vienna district of Favoriten ; † November 23, 1981 there ) was an Austrian composer , clarinetist and university teacher .
Live and act
Jettel completed an apprenticeship as an instrument maker and studied clarinet and composition at the then Vienna Music Academy , among others with Viktor Polatschek (1889–1948).
Jettel was principal clarinettist with the Vienna Philharmonic and from 1957 to 1978 a lecturer at the University of Music in Vienna . His students included the later solo clarinettist of the Vienna Philharmonic and university professors Peter Schmidl and Horst Hajek as well as the later solo clarinettist of the Vienna Symphony and the Berlin Philharmonic and university professor Alois Brandhofer .
He worked intensively on the construction and development of woodwind instruments.
He composed various chamber music such as string quartets, wind quintets and sonatas. In particular, his fundamental educational works for clarinet and saxophone are recognized in the professional world. He also wrote works for plucked instruments such as mandolins.
