Alois Dryák

Alois Dryák (born February 24, 1872 in Olšany, district of Brandýsek, Okres Kladno in Bohemia , then Austria-Hungary ; † June 6, 1932 in Prague , Czechoslovakia ) was a Czech architect and university professor.

Life

Dryák was a professor at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague at the beginning of the 20th century. He is known for his designs for jewelry details on various Art Nouveau buildings in Prague and for school buildings in Bohemia. The figural decoration of the base of the monument to St. Wenceslas on Wenceslas Square in Prague was designed by him. In the years after the First World War , various cubist and functionalist buildings were built in Prague and Brno in Moravia .

  • 1903: Hotel Garni, later Hotel Meran in Prague.
  • 1905: Hotel Erzherzog Stephan, later Hotel Šroubek, today Hotel Evropa in Prague. ´
  • 1905: Secondary school in Kladno .
  • 1909: High school in Česká Třebová (Bohemian Trübau).
  • 1912: Collaboration on the monument to František Palacký , New Town in Prague.
  • 1920/1922: House of the employers' liability insurance association (Odborový dům), Prague Old Town, Na Perštýně 347/11.
  • 1922/1924: Radiopalác in Prague- Vinohrady .
  • 1923/1924: District Court in Kladno.
  • 1926: Strahov Stadium in Prague (rebuilt).
  • 1927/1933: Orbis printing works in Prague-Vinohrady.
  • 1928/1932: Building of the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University in Brno.
