Alois Kofler

Alois Kofler (born September 23, 1950 in Bozen ) is an Italian politician from South Tyrol .

biography

Kofler grew up on a mountain farm in the Sarntal . After graduating from the Vinzentinum , he studied law at the Universities of Vienna and Padua and then worked as a freelance lawyer and justice of the peace . Kofler was mayor of the Sarntal community from 1985 to 1988 , and vice-president of the Salten-Schlern district community from 1983 to 1998 .

In 1988 Kofler was elected to the South Tyrolean state parliament and at the same time to the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol , where he held a mandate until 2001. In his first legislative period he was elected to the state government , where he worked in the Durnwalder I cabinet as regional councilor for spatial planning, energy and water management. From 1994 to 1999 he was responsible for the buildings, property and spatial planning departments in the Durnwalder II cabinet , and from 1999 in the Durnwalder III cabinet for buildings and IT.

In 2001 Kofler ran successfully in the single constituency of Merano for the Italian Senate and subsequently resigned as a member of the regional council and member of the regional parliament. Before the parliamentary elections in 2006, he lost the party primaries against Manfred Pinzger and then retired from politics.
